Our Projects

We co-create and fund initiatives that build on already established community programs in these areas, which include (1) STEAM field training; (2) media literacy and expertise, especially for women; (3) athletic programs; (2) bilingual language initiatives; (3) cultural and natural heritage oral storytelling digital libraries; (4) organic forest to table cuisines and recipes; (5) alternative power and sustainable solar systems; (6) electronic and plastics waste management; and (7) financial support for travel to national and international conferences. We also continuously seek funding for new initiatives that may emerge from community desires.

Our Principles Of practice

Our design principles are guided by decolonizing, feminist, and anti-racist philosophies. You won’t find many photos of community members on here or images of their homeland. That is by design. We respect their privacy and are hoping to change the way people perceive and talk about Indigenous Peoples.

  • As non-indigenous designers we prioritize working with Indigenous Peoples and recognizing other than mainstream design principles

  • We acknowledge the historical legacies of violence, especially within the arts, design, and media practices where appropriation of images, objects, and aesthetics have taken place without consent

  • We aim to do work that recognizes the Peoples of A’Ukre.

  • We aim to craft our work with digital divides in mind, knowing that all audiences have high barriers to entry in large bandwidth and media-rich internet environments

  • We hope our work can be a gathering space for peoples from all backgrounds.

  • Our design principles: Antiracist. Decolonizing. Simple. Flexible. Portable.
